Therapy is a dynamic and individualized process that looks different for every person, couple, and family. Drawing from a range of evidence-based approaches, I work collaboratively with you to identify what best supports your needs, respects your pace, and aligns with your goals. Together, we will create a therapeutic approach tailored to your unique circumstances and strengths. I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities to support your growth, healing, and overall well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented approach that helps identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. It focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions to support more effective coping and emotional well-being.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, skills-based approach that helps people better manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with distress more effectively. It combines mindfulness with practical strategies for emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy integrates present-moment awareness and nonjudgmental attention to help individuals observe thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations with greater clarity. It supports reducing reactivity and increasing emotional balance, acceptance, and overall well-being.
In regard to trauma, mindfulness-based approaches can be especially helpful in building the capacity to notice internal experiences without becoming overwhelmed by them. By gradually and gently strengthening awareness of the present moment, individuals can begin to recognize trauma-related thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations as they arise, while also developing the ability to respond with greater choice rather than automatic survival-based reactions. Over time, this can support a greater sense of safety within the body and mind and contribute to healing and the ability to better manage intense emotions.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based approach that views the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own feelings, roles, and perspectives. It helps individuals develop a compassionate relationship with these parts to promote healing, balance, and a stronger sense of inner connection and self-leadership.
This approach can be especially helpful in working through trauma, as it supports individuals in gently accessing and understanding the parts of themselves that may carry painful memories, protective responses, or intense emotional reactions. Rather than avoiding or suppressing these experiences, IFS creates space for curiosity and compassion, allowing these parts to feel seen, heard, and ultimately less burdened. Over time, this process can reduce the intensity of trauma-related symptoms and support deeper healing and integration.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) is a structured, action-oriented approach that helps individuals identify and challenge irrational or unhelpful beliefs that contribute to emotional distress. It focuses on developing more balanced thinking patterns to support healthier emotions and more effective behaviors.
Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT) is an approach that helps individuals stabilize daily routines such as sleep, meals, and social activities to support emotional regulation. It is based on the idea that consistent rhythms in daily life can improve mood stability and overall functioning. This approach has been shown to be particularly helpful in managing symptoms commonly associated with bipolar disorder.
